Flippity-Flop, an episode from the first season of For the People, featured Armstrong as Kirk Keener.Brian Torres spent four days in a cell after being left there by DEA agent Kirk Keener.After keeping Brian Torres in a holding cell for four days, during which he came dangerously close to death, Kirk Keener was charged with deprivation of rights under color of law. Because Brian’s identity matched a suspect in another case, Kirk claimed to have ordered another agent to detain him. However, he was drawn to another investigation and forgot about Brian.
The attorneys tried to work out a compromise where Kirk would pay a $10,000 fine instead of going to jail, but he refused to acknowledge any guilt, claiming it was just an accident. The footage showing Brian in the cell was used as part of the evidence against him when the case got to trial. Kirk was relieved when the jury delivered a not guilty judgment.Prior to his termination as a DEA agent because of the issue surrounding Brian Torres’ four-day incarceration, he was an agent.
