He was chosen second-team All-SEC after leading the Crimson Tide to the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship with seven quarterback sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss. Anderson won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and was voted a consensus All-American as a sophomore in 2021 after leading the nation with 17.5 sacks and 34.5 tackles for loss. He came in fifth place in the Heisman Trophy voting.
Anderson scored a touchdown on a 25-yard interception return against Louisiana-Monroe on November 17, 2022. Anderson has 51 total tackles (24 solo), ten sacks, and one interception in 13 games in 2022. For the 2022 season, his 10 sacks led the SEC. In addition to being selected a Consensus All-American, he received the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, the Nagurski Award, the Bednarik Award, the Lott IMPACT Trophy, and the Lombardi Award.
