On October 11, 2023, Sidner was charged with disseminating misleading information about the victims of the Hamas-perpetrated murder at Kfar Aza in Southern Israel, which was disseminated by the Israeli Prime Minister’s office. She had reported that “babies and toddlers were found with their (quoted) heads decapitated in Kfar Aza in southern Israel after Hamas’ attacks in the kibbutz over the weekend, a spokesperson for Israel’s prime minister says.”
Later, CNN reported that the Israeli authorities claimed that Hamas murdered the newborns through other means, but it was unable to confirm the accusation that the group beheaded children. Before the White House confirmed that they could not confirm whether any beheadings occurred, US President Joe Biden first asserted that he had seen evidence of Hamas terrorists beheading youngsters. Subsequently, Sidner expressed her regret on her own Twitter account and claimed to have been duped by third parties.
