Freedman revealed in an interview in 2015 that she had an anxiety disorder. On the third morning of a summer vacation at Byron Bay, on the NSW North Coast, in June 2015, Freedman’s breakdown started. She felt a pang in her lower belly as she got out of bed. Ovarian cancer, she made up her mind right away. She would pass away. How would she tell her family the dreadful news? She went through the motions of putting up a Christmas tree and taking her kids to the beach over the course of the following several weeks, but she was constantly overcome by what she now refers to as “frantic dread.” Her pulse quickened. Her stomach turned. She vividly remembered her funeral.

Following their recent expulsion from the Bellevue Hill trophy property Fintry, Freedman and her husband Jason Lavigne purchased a Point Piper home for $12.75 million. Just weeks after Paul Rich of Rich’s Double Bay listed the property of orthopaedic surgeon Professor Lawrence Kohan and his wife Gail with a $12 million to $13 million range, the co-founders of the news and lifestyle website Mamamia bought it.
According to records, Mr. Lavigne and Ms. Freedman, also known by her married name Mia Lavigne on title, paid more than double that much for the beachfront home in 2013, when Marissa Cameron, a recruiter, sold it. After a drawn-out court battle with Somna Kumar, the Bellevue Hill property Fintry’s owner and the wife of London-based investment banker Joseph Jayaraj, the purchase is undoubtedly intended to put an end to the couple’s tenure there.
Approximately three years prior to the beginning of 2015, Ms. Kumar had been attempting in vain to sell the more than $12 million Bellevue Hill property. She then entered into a deed that gave the Lavignes the right to reside there with the possibility of purchasing it in the future.
Mia Freedman Mamamia
Freedman also founded, publishes, and directs the Australian women’s website Mamamia. Freedman also created an Australian version of the parenting website iVillage in 2012. In June 2015, it was renamed The Motherish. By November 2015, all content from The Motherish had been absorbed into Mamamia.
