Lisa Evers is an American former high-ranking Guardian Angel and general assignment reporter for FOX 5 News, the host of the Street Soldiers with Lisa Evers TV and radio program in New York City, and a longtime volunteer for youth, children’s, and urban organizations.

Evers Career
Evers spearheaded a campaign that delivered a truckload of brand-new clothing, sneakers, and toys to Hurricane Katrina sufferers with the help of FOX 5 and HOT 97. In the 1980s, Evers signed a modeling contract with Elite Model Management after being spotted on the subway by a fashion photographer who took some test photographs. In addition to working with Elite in New York and Paris, she made appearances in magazines in Australia, India, and the UK, as well as in French versions of Elle and Vogue.
Evers, a black belt in karate, has appeared in women’s self-defense videos. She was named “Woman of the Year” in 1987, making her the first female inductee into the Black Belt Hall of Fame. Between 1986 and 1994, she also wrote a number of monthly essays for Black Belt magazine.
Evers previously served as the volunteer crime-fighting group Guardian Angels’ vice-president. She went as Lisa Sliwa at the time, was married to Curtis Sliwa, the company’s founder, and was a model for Elite Model Management in Paris and New York City. Shortly before their divorce, she and Sliwa co-hosted a talk radio program on WABC-AM in New York City.
Evers joined the World Wrestling Federation and made a brief attempt to pursue a career as a professional wrestler in the 1980s. She performed a number of self-defense holds during her 1985 appearance on Tuesday Night Titans.
In 2016, the popular HOT 97 program Street Soldiers with Lisa Evers was rebranded as a weekly television program on FOX 5 in New York, which aired at 10:30 p.m. on Fridays.
