He has two brothers; Jude Shirer and Jackson Shirer is an American football player and actor. Jack is from a well-known Christian household. Tony Evans, a Christian author, preacher, and pastor, is his grandfather. Anthony Evans, a Christian singer and songwriter, is his uncle.
Actress, lecturer, and author Priscilla Shirer is his mother. Jonathan Evans, another of his uncles, was a football player at Baylor before playing fullback for the Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, and Buffalo Bills, among other NFL clubs.

Sterner Career
During his high school career, JC participated in a tournament in Austin, Texas, where he had the opportunity to meet some of the Liberty coaching staff. After attending a basketball camp at Liberty, he received an invitation to return for a visit.
Regarding Coach McKay, JC remarked, “He offered me a spot on the squad on that trip.” I made a commitment right away, just like Jackson. I could not have made a better choice now that he and I are both here.
Jackson and JC both have nothing but positive things to say about their time at Liberty and the coaching staff that guided them.
“Coach McKay is among the brightest guys I have ever encountered,” JC remarked. With all my heart, I say that. It is amazing how he can convince us gamers to buy in by giving us advice, making a call to action, and drawing attention to himself. It is unlike anything I have ever seen. The first time I spoke with him face-to-face, I knew I could develop as a person in addition to wanting to go Liberty for basketball. He will never sell me anything that I can not do, I know that. That is one of the greatest presents a man can give someone.
