Lisa Marie Presley, his mother and Elvis Presley’s only daughter, was the only heir to the $100 million Presley wealth and a performer in her own right. Danny Keough, Keough’s father, had a solid career of his own and was a traveling musician for jazz great Chick Corea. After relocating to California in 1984, the Chicago native met Lisa Marie at the Los Angeles Celebrity Center of the Church of Scientology.

Keough’s Family Background

Benjamin Keough, the grandson of Elvis Presley, was raised in luxury and affluence. He appeared destined for stardom and possessed the rock star good looks of his famous granddad.

Regretfully, he also experienced mounting pressure to emulate his grandfather’s extraordinary accomplishment. This ultimately exacerbated the severe sadness that would eventually result in Benjamin Keough’s suicide in July 2020, when he was just 27 years old.

Since then, very little information about that terrible night has been made public. Lisa Marie Presley, Keough’s mother, is currently raising her surviving children in relative isolation. However, the family will undoubtedly be troubled for decades to come by the tale of that terrible night and the circumstances that preceded it.

Danielle spent a large portion of her early years with her father, but Lisa Marie Presley appeared to have an especially close bond with her son. When the Keough children’s mother left their father for Michael Jackson in 1994, it was the first shock of their lives. However, that marriage ended in 1996, and Keough was a little boy when his mother abruptly left the King of Pop for Nicolas Cage, another Hollywood scion. They were married for just 100 days.

Keough, meanwhile, stated that he wanted to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps by the time he turned 17. In 2009, Universal offered him a $5 million record deal to pursue his dream of becoming a singer.

No music from the young vocalist was ever released, even though the deal mentioned the possibility of up to five albums and the singer actually went into the studio to record some songs.

Benjamin Keough drew attention everywhere he went since he resembled his renowned grandfather almost perfectly. Lisa Marie Presley herself was struck by the similarity between her father and her son. However, reports that Keough was growing more irritable were dismissed as normal teenage behavior.

Keough Cause of Death

The grandchild of Elvis Presley watched helplessly as his mother endured some terrible financial hardships in the final years of his life. Because her financial advisor reduced the multimillion-dollar Elvis Presley trust to a pitiful $14,000 and left her with hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid debt, Lisa Marie Presley filed a lawsuit against him in 2018.

In order to support her suffering daughter, Keough’s grandmother, Priscilla Presley, ultimately had to sell her $8 million mansion in Beverly Hills. The grandson of Elvis Presley battled alcoholism and drug abuse as his mother also neared her fourth divorce. He said the contentious church “messes you up” and attributed many of his problems to his upbringing in the Church of Scientology.

Keough’s Death

Keough shot himself on July 12, 2020, while attending a combined celebration for his brother-in-law Ben Smith-Peterson and girlfriend Diana Pinto. Before hearing a shotgun explosion, neighbors claimed to have heard someone yell, “Don’t do it.” The Los Angeles coroner subsequently verified that Keough died by placing a shotgun in his mouth and firing the trigger, despite an original report indicating that he died by aiming a gun to his chest. Despite his idyllic upbringing, the Elvis Presley grandson suffered from sadness, which would follow him for the remainder of his brief life. Ultimately, he was unable to overcome his afflictions despite his wealth, notoriety, or ancestry.
