Tom Fulp is an American programmer best known for co-founding the video game firm The Behemoth and inventing the website Newgrounds.

Tom Fulp Castle Crashers

Fulp co-created the Flash game Alien Hominid, which he eventually ported to consoles as The Behemoth, as well as the console title Castle Crashers. Castle Crashers is a 2D hack-and-slash video game that was released in 2008 as part of the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade. The game, set in a medieval environment, includes four knights battling a terrible wizard to save princesses and retrieve a mystical crystal.

Tom Fulp Newgrounds

Fulp co-created the Flash game Alien Hominid, which he eventually ported to consoles as The Behemoth, as well as the console title Castle Crashers. Fulp won the Pioneer award at the 2021 Game creators Choice Awards for creating Newgrounds and being a pioneer of Macromedia Flash games, which helped define a generation of indie creators.

Fulp produced Pico’s School with Shockwave Flash 3 in 1999, before the release of the scripting language ActionScript, which following Flash game creators would adopt. The game “displayed a complexity of design and polish in presentation that had previously been virtually unseen in amateur Flash game development” and has been credited with both assisting kickstarting the Flash games market and launching Newgrounds as a “public force.”
