Robert Irwin is a television personality, actor, naturalist, zookeeper, and wildlife photographer from Australia who hosts Robert’s Real Life Adventures, a show on his family zoo’s internal television network, and appears on Animal Planet’s Crikey!

Robert Irwin, the sole son of Steve and Terri Irwin, was born as the younger of two children. Robert was named after both his paternal and maternal grandfathers. When Robert was two years old, his father died from a stingray injury to the heart while recording an underwater documentary. Following their father’s death, Robert and his sister, Bindi, were homeschooled at Australia Zoo. He holds dual citizenship in both Australia and the United States. His ancestors are English, with a large Irish component on his father’s side.

Irwin is also a passionate photographer who contributes often to the Australia Zoo Crikey magazine. He has also participated in numerous photography adventures around the world, from the African savannah to the mountains of New Zealand, the wilderness of Europe, and everything in between.
Irwin was invested as a member and ambassador of Scouts Australia on April 6, 2017, formalizing a link between the organization and Australia Zoo. The partnership’s goal is to inspire young Australians to get active in wilderness and conservation. He has also given numerous interviews to magazines aimed at youngsters, such as Vanity. Irwin has his own station on Australia Zoo TV.
Career
Irwin had a surprise appearance in Free Willy: Escape from Pirate’s Cove in 2009. In 2012, Irwin co-starred in the television series Steve Irwin’s Wildlife Warriors with his mother and sister, earning him a Logie Award nomination for Most Popular New Male Talent in 2013. Irwin co-hosted a Discovery Kids Channel television series called Wild But True in 2014 and 2015. In 2016, the show was nominated for an International Emmy Kids Award in the factual category.
He appears as a guest on the British wildlife shows Ten Deadliest Snakes in an episode about Australia’s venomous snakes in 2015. He led broadcaster Nigel Marven around Australia Zoo’s billabong in search of a red-bellied black snake. Irwin finished second in the juvenile category of the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition in 2016. Irwin also contributes pictures to the Australia Zoo Crikey magazine. He uses his passion for photography to spread the word about wildlife protection. He has also collected tens of thousands of dollars for the Irwins’ non-profit organization Wildlife Warriors by auctioning canvas prints of his paintings at events worldwide. He has also met with world leaders such as His Royal Highness Prince Charles to discuss natural habitat protection.
Irwin made his late-night television debut on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on February 16, 2017. He gave Jimmy Fallon an African dwarf crocodile, a screaming armadillo, a red-tailed boa, and a sloth. Irwin later returned to The Tonight Show on several times, each time showcasing a different group of animals. Irwin has appeared on the show eleven times as of April 2019.
