Bateman Career
Bateman started martial arts training in bō staff and Gōjū-ryū karate at an early age. Bateman earned four world titles in the 15–17 age group of the National Blackbelt League when he was a teenager. Three of those titles were in weapons, and one was in Japanese forms in Houston and Myrtle Beach in 2003 and 2004.
After graduating from Vancouver’s Capilano University at the age of 20, he went on to start his own karate school. He started working as a professional model shortly after, living in Miami, New York City, and Milan at that time. Bruce Weber once selected him to be photographed for an Abercrombie & Fitch campaign.
In addition to his work in television and movies, Bateman starred in the 2011 movie Hobo with a Shotgun and the 2019 Hallmark Channel movie A Brush With Love, in which he played the lead alongside Arielle Kebbel. His final performance was costarring with Jill Wagner in the 2021 GAC Family film A Christmas Miracle for Daisy.
