Lisa Harper is a well-known author, Bible teacher, and inspirational speaker who in addition to serving as the founding executive director of New York Faith & Justice, the organization at the center of a new ecumenical movement to eradicate poverty in New York City.
She also serves as the Chief Church Engagement Officer for Sojourners, a Christian organization that advocates for social, cultural, and environmental justice.

She has published numerous articles on shalom and governance, immigration reform, health care reform, poverty, racial and gender justice, climate change, and transformational civic engagement.
Ms. Harper was designated one of 50 important women religious leaders to honor on International Women’s Day by The Huffington Post in 2015. The Religion Communicators Council honored Ms. Harper’s monthly Freedom Road Podcast’s two-part series “Best Radio or Podcast Series of the Year” in 2019. The series was titled The Roots and Fruits of Immigrant Labor Exploitation in the United States. In 2020, Ms. Harper won The Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth, and Reconciliation’s Bridge Award in recognition of her commitment to bridging divides and strengthening the beloved community.
