She married Mychal Thompson, a professional basketball player, in 1987, and the two of them had three sons: Mychel (born in 1988), Klay (born in 1990), and Trayce (born in 1991). Trayce is an outfielder with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Klay is a shooting guard for the Golden State Warriors, and Mychel had a brief stint in the NBA.

Julie transferred to the University of San Francisco, where she excelled as an outside hitter for the volleyball team while receiving a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Julie married basketball player Mychal Thompson in 1987 after meeting him at a gym at the University of Portland. They had three sons and currently live in Los Angeles, California.
Thompson Family Foundation
Julie and her family co-founded the Thompson Family Foundation, which assists and supports people in difficult situations. The foundation was established following Klay’s long-term injury, which prompted the family to launch the 941 project. The injury drew Julie Thompson and Klay Thompson closer together as she cared for her son after he was rendered helpless by the knife. After seeing the physical and emotional repercussions of a long-term injury on one person, the two formed a strategy to give back to society.
The 941 Project aims to assist workers with employment, career, and networking assistance when they have had career failures. Julie’s son Klay is projected to be worth $70 million, while her husband, who oversees the Thompson Family Foundation, is worth $11 million.
