Sukanya Krishnan Biography
Sukanya Krishnan is a news anchor in the United States. From 2017 to 2019, she co-anchored Good Day Wake Up, the early addition before Good Day New York on Fox 5 NY WNYW in New York City with Jennifer Lahmers. She previously co-anchored the PIX Morning News with Scott Stanford on WPIX in New York City. She joined WPIX in 2001, departed in 2003 to become one of Home Delivery’s four anchors, then returned to the WB11 Morning News anchor chair in 2005.
Krishnan was born in Madras, India (now Chennai), and grew up on Staten Island, where he attended New Dorp High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Dickinson College in 1993.

She is the daughter of Madurai Krishnan and Sashikala Krishnan. She was born in Madras to them. Sukanya tells her viewers on her program and on social media that she has an outstanding set of parents. Sukanuya revealed on Facebook one Father’s Day that one of the best things her father gave her was “just believing in me.” While her mother, she claimed, gave her motivation, it was her father who gave her dreams. Sukanya Krishnan Career
Krishnan previously worked in the New York news market as a general assignment reporter at WCBS-TV from June 1997 until July 2001. In 1995, she worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer for ABC station WUTR-TV in Utica, New York, on the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. In 1994, she began her career in television at Long Island’s WLIG-TV. She formerly worked as a morning/afternoon anchor and reporter for WHP-TV, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s CBS station. She covered a variety of topics, including TWA Flight 800, the “Million Man March,” and the 1996 floods that devastated central Pennsylvania. Krishnan handled breaking news for CBS 2’s 5, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts while at WCBS-TV.
In addition to her Emmy, Krishnan has received the Project Impact (formerly Indian American Political Awareness Committee) “Creating A Voice” Award, as well as a Distinguished Broadcast Journalist commendation from the Office of the Comptroller of the City of New York, for her coverage of the September 11 attacks. Her charitable service includes serving as a celebrity judge in the 2005 Iron Skillet Cookoff. Krishnan appeared as a reporter reporting the mob in the “Two Tonys” episode of HBO’s The Sopranos in March 2004.
She was awarded during the FeTNA (Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America) annual conference in New York City in July 2006. On October 9, 2007, Krishnan was named one of New York Moves Magazine’s 2007 Power Women at an awards gala presented by Mira Sorvino and MC’d by Judy Gold.
