Cain established Quince Media in 2006 after returning to the Dallas region in 2001 to take care of his younger brother. Before becoming a radio presenter at ESPN, he served as a stand-in host for CNN’s In the Arena. He started anchoring The Will Cain Show on ESPN Radio in 2018.
Charges of liberal bias against ESPN for its coverage of social and political topics in sports coincide with Cain’s rising popularity. Michael McCarthy of Sporting News stated that Cain had become a “virtual third debate partner” with Molly Qerim, Max Kellerman, and Stephen A. Smith on First Take and that he offered ESPN a useful balance.
Cain left ESPN in 2020 to co-host Fox & Friends Weekend on Fox News. His final edition of The Will Cain Show aired two days after his last appearance on First Take, which took place on June 24, 2020. Cain combined his political, sports, and news views to create The Will Cain Podcast in April 2021.
After Tucker Carlson was fired, Cain took over as host of Fox News Tonight in May 2023. Even though Cain’s ESPN show was primarily about sports, he was one of the network’s most conservative voices.
