At Station 19, Rigo Vasquez worked as a fireman. Rigo was hired by Captain Pruitt Herrera directly out of junior college. When Rigo’s father passed away, Captain Herrera was present. Although there was a lot of friction between him and the other members of the team, Rigo worked with A shift when Andy was away on her required week off.

He stepped in without waiting for orders when they responded to a fire at Roger’s Five and Dime, even though Ben was ready to provide some in the triage area. Later, as they went to the pub to celebrate, Rigo appeared, presumably in search of his wife.

Andy and Rigo were responding to a bridal shop when Shauna passed out and struck her head while riding in the aid car. They sampled the air to validate their suspicions of carbon monoxide poisoning. Shauna’s condition improved once they got her out, but they were unable to take her to the hospital because Andy had seen smoke emerging from a manhole cover.

Rigo was not happy about being dragged from the rescue car to leave the roadway when the rest of Station 19 came to assist. Against Jack’s directions, he chose to remove a manhole cover that caught his eye. Just in time, Jack yanked him away and benched him for the remainder of the call, claiming he didn’t trust Rigo.
