Dance experienced major blockages in two of his heart’s main arteries, yet he survived a heart attack and cardiac arrest. He was promptly transported to the cardiac catheterization lab for a diagnostic procedure after the paramedics forwarded his EKG reports to the emergency room. The blockages that caused the heart attack and cardiac arrest were discovered during the operation.
After that, Bill was transferred to the cardiac intensive care unit for close observation and testing. He had coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery a few days later, which redirected blood flow to avoid the obstructions.
Bill attributes his survival to the onlookers who gave him emergency medical attention. He also developed a strong desire to see defibrillators—deviators that can shock the heart back to life—installed in police cars.
